Meanwhile, the composer David "Dave" Seville (Jason Lee) sends one of his songs to the label JETT, but is rejected by his former college roommate, Ian Hawke, who says he hates Dave's latest song. When he left the label, Dave steals a basket of muffins. The Chipmunks and the tree, end up on the receipt of the record company Jett. Alvin, Simon and Theodore manage to escape the tree and enter the basket. When Dave gets home, throws the basket in the trash can and begins to throw all his compositions through the door. The Chipmunks decide to hide in cupboards. When Dave discovers them, he begins to want to crush them with a spatula. Dave is attacked by Alvin and does catch it, but Alvin escapes.
