Learning Web Design (3rd Edition)
English | 2007 | 2464 pages | PDF | 23 MB
Web design has certainly come a long way from the time I learned HTML in 1995. But the author of Learning Web Design (3rd Edition) has been around even longer -- she designed the first commercial website in 1993. Robbins, who also authors O'Reilly's excellent Web Design in a Nutshell, has done a superb job of updating Learning Web Design to reflect modern HTML standards and directions. The book includes seven full chapters to using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). The old way of webpage layout used tables. The new approach with CSS allows webpages to be viewed easily no matter what device one is using to surf the Web -- web browser, mobile phone, text browser for the sight challenged. Robbins' new edition covers all aspects of CSS on which the emerging Web is being built.
This book is very well illustrated, colorful, and substantial. Each chapter concludes with questions that can be used to test yourself or to facilitate the book's use in the classroom. Strongly recommended for both serious beginners and old hands needing to retool to fully implement the power of CSS.
