OpenOffice.org is both an Open Source product and a project. The product is a multi-platform office productivity suite. It includes the key desktop applications, such as a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation manager, and drawing program, with a user interface and feature set similar to other office suites. Sophisticated and flexible, OpenOffice.org also works transparently with a variety of file formats, including those of Microsoft Office.

What's New Version 3.3.0 (RC8):

- Added locale data for Maithili (India) [mai-IN].
- Added Yoruba (Nigeria) [yo-NG] to language list.
- Added Gikuyu (Kenya) [ki-KE] to language list.
- Added Rusyn (Slovakia) [rue-SK] and Rusyn (Ukraine) [rue-UA] to language list.
- Support for 'password to modify'. (Word 97 and Excel 97 binary documents only)
- Save file with password functionality needs to be extended by customer request. Beside the already implemented file encryption, an additional password to protect a document from being edited is implemented.
- Calc spreadsheets now support 1048576 (1M) rows instead of 65536 rows.
- The user interface of the current Extension Manager will be changed to ease the usability with the aim, that each user can work easily with this UI. Especially the need to differentiate between user extensions and shared extensions will be eased by an appropriate interface design.
