"Czech grammars and language learning materials for foreigners. The standard is James Naughton's addition to the Collouquial series and his companion Essential Grammar. This book does. Dating from the 1950s, it presents the language in a matter-of-fact fashion, presenting all the grammar and vocab one is liekly to need to be able to read and write Czech adequately, bolsetered throughout by constant revision, review and drill exercises, ensuring the material is retained. Yes, it's old, and the most obvious consequence of this is that verbs all end in the soft -i ending, which is now archaic, though this is easily compensated for by simply mentally removing the final leter of each infinitive: nothing else is different in the modern language re verbal conjugations."
