This is a compilation CD by one of Brazils most beloved artists. 19 tracks including Patuscada De Gandhi, Flora, Toda Menina Baiana and more. Gilberto Gil, along with Caetano Veloso, Maria Bethania, and Gal Costa, was one of the founding members of the revolutionary late-60s Tropicalia movement, which deliberately challenged the conventions of Brazilian popular culture. Gil had an early burst of pop fame, and rapidly made his way into that musical state of grace where everything he did seemed to shimmer magically.

This solid collection is a compelling career overview of one of rock's most distinctive groups. Led by Mark Knopfler, whose deadpan vocal style and stunning guitar technique characterize the band's sound, Dire Straits burst on the scene in 1978 with "Sultans of Swing." This VERY BEST OF begins there (even amid the ensemble's later hits, the lead-off track's clean shuffle rhythm and minor-key melody still dazzles) and continues all the way to cuts from the group's 1991 release, ON EVERY STREET, and their 1993 live outing, ON THE NIGHT.

The challenge with this collection � which I reckon to be Moby's fourth including the releases on his earlier label homes and his collection of soundtrack work for Mute � was apparent when I attempted to import the tracks into iTunes; it described the genre as 'unclassifiable, at which I initially guffawed incredulously. However, thinking about it more closely, what is Moby's overall 'style'?
